"As
a professional printmaker I like the fact that Caligo inks
are made in close collaboration with the end user. It is
reassuring to know that the ink formulators take the time
to really listen to the requirements and needs of the printmaker.
Caligo inks are carefully made and thoroughly tested. "

Research
and New Product Development is a vital and exciting area of work
at Caligo and it is here that new inks are born, developed and
tested.
Our
aim is to develop inks that meet the needs of our ‘end users’
and we make every effort to make sure our inks are tested and
approved by fine art printmakers.
We have a micro dispersion mixer and a small batch triple roll
mill, a Xenon Lightfast Tester as well as an array of traditional
ink testing equipment to measure and compare viscosity, drying
time, printability, tack, fineness of grind, and colour. Our own
in-house print facilities include an intaglio press and a flat
-bed proofing press.

We believe
it is important to build strong links with practising printmakers
and Caligo enjoy a fruitful partnership with the Centre
for Fine Print Research at the University of the West of England,
Bristol. This ‘centre of excellence’ provides us with
unique access to specialist print studios and expertise in all
areas of contemporary printmaking. Our most recent collaboration
has led to the development of a successful and unique range of
specialist inks for Collotype
Printing. |
