Caligo
have been making inks for fine art printmakers for over 30 years
and we are pleased to offer an exciting range of inks that we
believe reflect and meet the needs of the contemporary printmaker.
The
majority of our ink ranges include the primary (process) colours
of cyan, magenta and yellow (CMY) for those printmakers who wish
to create colour prints using digital colour separation techniques
and photomechanical print processes
We
take care to select and use lightfast pigments in our formulations
and so our inks are rated at least 6 or higher on the International
Blue Wool Scale.
'Safe
Wash' Inks
For
those interested in Non-Toxic printmaking, we are pleased to offer
a new and innovative range of oil-based inks that can be washed
away with liquid soap / detergent and water, without the need
for harmful and often more expensive solvents. We call these inks ‘Safe Wash’ and they are available for Relief and Intaglio printing.
Traditional
Inks
We
manufacture traditional oil-based printing inks for all the traditional
printmaking processes including intaglio printing (etching, aquatint
etc. ) relief printing (lino cut, wood cut, wood engraving, flexography,
monoprint and letterpress) and offset or direct lithographic printing
(from stone, metal or from photographic plates). We
also make inks for specialist printmaking applications such as
the beautiful process of Collotype Printing as
